While driving towards the green and mountainous Eptagonia, all visitors have the chance to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful surroundings of the village.
Towards the village centre, arises a magnificent church dedicated to Saint (Agia) Marina. According to an inscription, the church was built at the beginning of the 19th century and the width of its external wall reaches 1 metre. The construction is made of black stone and the parvis is paved with slabs. Stone was used for the wall surrounding the church.
The bell tower, which is quite high, is located on the west side of the church. Agia Marina’s church was built with arches uniting the ceiling and there is only one, spacious chamber (for 250 persons approximately).
Five years ago, the community of Eptagonia helped preserve this beautiful construction. There are no murals in the church. There is a new wooden carved iconostasis, where the old and valuable icons are kept. The icon dedicated to Agia Marina is time-honoured and is kept in the iconostasis of the church.
The community of Eptagonia honours Agia Marina every year on the 17th of July with the procession of the icon.
